Roma Medical is a leading UK manufacturer of mobility and rehabilitation products including scooters, powerchairs, wheelchairs, walking aids, bariatric aids and hospital equipment. Founded in 1970, Roma has had an interesting history, starting as a wheelchair company owned by two founders which grew to today’s business which has a network of suppliers in over 25 countries worldwide.
In 1978, after selling their Easi-Glide Wheelchair company to Invacare, Mr Johnson and Mr Matthews started Roma Engineering where it majored on products for the NHS. In 2000 Mr Johnson and his family decided to sell the business to a consortium called Invamed who have continued to grow the company to what it is today – a global leader in mobility aids.
Roma Medical, who are still based in South Wales where they began, have a commitment to their workforce that means they employ locally and keep as many operations as possible within the UK. Roma currently employ 70 people and continue to sell their own in-house products under the Roma brand alongside Shoprider which was acquired in 2002.
As approved distributors of Roma Medical products we’d be happy to assist you with any questions you may have or, if you’d like to try any of their power products, we’d be happy to arrange a demo.
